The Castle Roy Trust has taken 25 years to secure the walls and make the area safe for visitors. We are ready for WEDDINGS and PERFORMANCES in the grounds with utilities on site and a large area flattened for marquees. The Bards Bowl and Panoramic Picnic Point allow for fun and games for the whole family.
As of summer 2019, there is still some building work continuing and we hope that soon the castle will be completely open.
At present, accompanied tours can be given on request.
Well hello folks, it has been a wee while since the animals had an update. Far too much other interesting stuff going on, wild flowers, events and summer sunsets 😉 anyway.
Poppy has officially retired from her duties at the castle, she does miss her regular visitors but she is fine, just feeling her age somewhat these days.
Its ok Murdo is not alone last year when Poppy was not well we aquired Buster, he has now arrived and stepped up to the companion role amazingly. Yes, he is sporting a mohican, with a fleece like that we couldnt resist the chance... was done way back at shearing, its amazing how long sheep spray lasts.. watch this space esp at Halloween 🎃

We suddenly received another donation. What a lovely surprise from Patrick, who was visiting Scotland for the first time. Thank you all, We are getting there. Meanwhile, his simple shelter has helped him this summer and the umbrella! It is not a permanent fix but it was the early donations that helped with that and we are not wasting them. The wood can be reused and the umbrella was a donation! We were a bit thrown when our first plan fell through due to planning restrictions! So, this has been a nice boost. We have a few more annual sponsors now, too!
Murdo is 'Guardian of our Castle' and is attracting visitors, not only to him and his wee friend Poppy, the pony, but also to the castle which was a stronghold for the clans, Comyn and Grant. He really suffered from the heat in the wonderful summer that we have just enjoyed and would be better...
