The Castle Roy Trust has taken 25 years to secure the walls and make the area safe for visitors. We are ready for WEDDINGS and PERFORMANCES in the grounds with utilities on site and a large area flattened for marquees. The Bards Bowl and Panoramic Picnic Point allow for fun and games for the whole family.
As of summer 2019, there is still some building work continuing and we hope that soon the castle will be completely open.
At present, accompanied tours can be given on request.
Well l have had a good week... l proved the point when a coo wants to leave it can! l am currently available for demolition services having mown down an entire fenceline!!! The hooman beans in my life did not find it funny, especially that l hid from them for 15mins. It was like an episode of Pooh and Piglet hunting for heffalumps.. l was a clever boy l walked a complete circuit of the castle keeping a whole 2 sides between us, so she was totally convinced l was not there at all and started making teary and distressed phone calls, so l stopped and she found me when going up to see if l had popped in with the cows next door!!!
So l needed to move into my winter field a tad early... so that worked out for me didnt it... diets over haha. Today she did that trick again where l got a lovely brush but felt the tickly stuff on my back, meds were applied successfully before l realised what was going on and try as she might l was not falling for any more cuddles, in case she was tricking me some more!!! 😉
Stay safe everyone and here is a wee September giggle for you ;p
Thought l would share this video of the Castle's main man at 4weeks old. Dear Murdo in the days when he could be lifted and put where you wanted him.. at nearly 800kg now, you ask him politely and he decides if he wants to go there hahaha. Massive thanks to Lorraine his hand rearing saviour Mum for the video, without you we would not have Murdo ❤:)
Well what can we say but a huge thank you to our pedestrian visitors, since we opened the gates in August. It it has been lovely to see so many people and the generous donations have almost brought a tear to my eye and it will all go towards Murdo's winter feed bills which is a huge relief 🙂 The box is treated daily to help keep everyone safe so thank you and stay safe 🙂
Welcome to August 2020. We are determined it will be better than the rest of this covid 19 experience! We kicked it off by getting a team in to measure out and lay the pond liner, in preparation for the diggers coming. The eco gang were there too ensuring we did not squish anything important and helped us to move some lovely plants to safety, for replanting when its done. Alas we came prepped well but lost snack to the inhouse jaffa cake tester...( we tyrned our backs for one second!) Murdo decided his electric fence wasnt working well enough so let himself out of the drive to inspect the pond work overnight. Made for an interesting herding moment the next day, he felt he wanted to stay up top ;p
Big decision made also, the car park will be accessible to pedestrians so that at least Murdo can have some visitors. We will see how this works. Unfortunately at the moment the castle must stay closed to keep the stone masons protected.
All the best everyone and stay safe. 🙂
