The Castle Roy Trust has taken 25 years to secure the walls and make the area safe for visitors. We are ready for WEDDINGS and PERFORMANCES in the grounds with utilities on site and a large area flattened for marquees. The Bards Bowl and Panoramic Picnic Point allow for fun and games for the whole family.
As of summer 2019, there is still some building work continuing and we hope that soon the castle will be completely open.
At present, accompanied tours can be given on request.
I have just been rereading the book Fortress Scotland by Simon Forder. It is amazing and has a great piece on Castle Roy after his visits in 2016. I am now in touch with him about some more information for our website. And, he can update some of his photos after all the work of the last few years which has been funded by LEADER under the auspices of the Cairngorms National Park.

Why not take a picnic up and take in the spectacular views? This visitor had fun after a tour chatting to Murdo. But, please remember not to try to stroke him unless his handler is with you!
